The new season of the ESC Air Cup is running

The new season of the ESC Air Cup powered by Walther and Capapie has started.

The Air Cup is especially for those athletes, who are competing at the national or local competitions or lower level than European or World Championship or European or World Cups or who have not participated in those during the last five years.

When we are looking at the registration numbers, the most popular is 10m Air Pistol Men with 132 registered athletes. At the silver positions are 10m Air Rifle Men and Women events, both have 107 registered athletes. In 10m Air Pistol Women there is 91 registered athletes. Running Target has increased their participants and 27 athletes from 5 countries competing in this event.

The Covid-19 pandemic is unfortunately still effecting these competitions, but they are still proving to be very popular. The most popular event of the season 2021-2022 is the 10m Air Rifle Men, there is participants from 13 European countries. At second position of the events is the 10m Air Rifle Women, in which athletes from 10 countries are competing.

The top eight (8) athletes in Air Rifle and Air Pistol disciplines (not Running Target) qualify for an Internet “Super Final”, by being in the top eight overall results per male/female discipline in four (4) out of the five (5) monthly competitions.

With the first Qualification round (November) having been completed, Romain Aufrere (625.8) from France is leading the 10m Air Rifle Men competition. Norwegian Milda Marina Haugen is on the top in the 10m Air Rifle Women event with 630.4 result.

Last season´s Air Cup winner of the 10m Air Pistol Men Stanislav Silaev (RUS) has started strongly and keeps the top position with result of the 578. French Sandrine Routier is on top at the 10m Air Pistol Women at the moment with 574 result. In Running Target Finnish Ville Puhakka, who won the last season, is leading now with 574 result.

The Air Cup sponsors are German manufacturer Carl Walther and Indian Capapie Sports Equipments. The sponsors are providing some very generous prizes with Walther awarding the Super Final winners with a new Air Pistol/Air Rifle and Capapie awarding all the Super Final athletes with some of their products.
